Your linen closet only needs three sets per bed.

The secret to a small linen closet is ruthless paring down—you really only need three sets of sheets and towels per bed or person. One on the bed, one in the wash, one in the closet. That’s it. Anything beyond that is just taking up space you don’t have, and you’re probably not rotating through them anyway.

Once you’ve donated or tossed the extras, fold everything so it stands upright (the KonMari way). Towels fold into rectangles, sheets get folded into flat squares with all the elastic corners tucked inside. Stack them like books, not piles. You can see everything at a glance and grab one without demolishing the whole shelf. For fitted sheets—yes, it’s a pain, but worth it. Watch a two-minute video if you need to.

Toiletries should go in clear bins or baskets, one per category (first aid, travel sizes, backup soap, etc.). Label them if you’re fancy, but at least keep similar stuff together. Use the floor or a low shelf for bulky items like toilet paper or big bottles—those don’t need prime real estate. If the shelf is deep, put the rotation stuff in the back and the daily-use stuff in front. Nothing should live on the floor
