Your lunchbox is already the best container
You can pack a completely plastic-bag-free lunch with stuff you probably already own.
The lunchbox itself is the main container. Most things don’t need any extra wrapping if they’re going straight into a box. Carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, apple slices, crackers — just drop them in. You don’t need to bag every individual item.
For sandwiches, use a cloth napkin, a beeswax wrap, or a sturdy container. If you have a Tupperware or a glass bowl, that’s it. For dips and small snacks, use the tiny glass jars or metal tins you already have. Even silicone muffin cups work well for trail mix.
If you’re willing to buy something, reusable silicone bags are genuinely great for sandwiches and snacks. But they’re not required. Start with what’s in your kitchen cabinet.
The only real rule: don’t use a bag that’s designed to be thrown away after one hour of holding a sandwich.
