Your mousepad thickness matters less than your desk height.
Not much, actually. Wrist angle is determined by where your forearm sits relative to the mouse, and that’s mostly about desk height and chair position.
A thick pad can help if your desk is too high — it raises your wrist to a neutral angle instead of bending it back. But if your desk is already at a good height, a thick pad will just tilt your wrist upward, which is just as bad as bending it down.
Gel wrist rests are a different story, but for the pad itself: thin is safer unless you know you need the lift. Most people are better off adjusting their chair and desk first.
If you’re shopping for ergonomics, spend the money on a good chair, not a thick mousepad.
