Your shock probably killed algae — that's the cloudiness.
It’s normal. Shocking oxidizes organic stuff, and dead algae turns the water milky. Give it a day or two with the pump running and the filter cleaning.
The two most common reasons: either you killed a bloom and the junk is floating, or your calcium hardness is high and the shock made it precipitate out. Both resolve with time and filtration.
Run the pump 24/7 until it clears. Backwash or clean the filter every few hours if pressure rises. If it’s still hazy after two days, add a pool clarifier or flocculant (follow the bottle). Floc will sink the particles to the floor, then you vacuum to waste.
Don’t add more shock until it clears — you’ll just make it worse. Test your water. If calcium is high, next time use a non-calcium shock (like lithium or a chlorine-free oxidizer).
You probably just need patience and a good filter cycle. If it’s still cloudy after a week, take a sample to the pool store.
