Your small bar needs fewer bottles than you think.
Decluttering a small home bar is less about storage hacks and more about admitting you only drink three things.
Most people stock a home bar like they’re opening a speakeasy. You don’t need triple sec, vermouth, and crème de menthe if you haven’t made a Sidecar since 2019. Be honest about what you actually pour. For most people, that’s one whiskey, one gin or vodka, maybe a bottle of something for mixing (ginger beer, tonic, soda). Everything else is taking up space.
For the counter itself: use a small tray. It forces you to keep only what fits on the tray. A drink caddy or a simple wooden board works. That tray holds your daily-drinker bottle, one mixer, your favorite glass, and one tool (corkscrew or jigger). Everything else goes in a cabinet or drawer.
The “guest stash” is a trap. You don’t need to have a bottle everyone might want. If a friend wants something specific, they’ll bring it. Or they’ll drink what you have. Stop preparing for a party that hasn’t happened yet.
One final thing: if you have bottles you bought for a single recipe and never touched again, donate them or give them away. They’re not “decor.” They’re guilt in glass form.
