Zip pocket board shorts are the move.

That’s really the only feature that matters.

Paddleboarding means you’re kneeling, sitting, and standing — things fall out of regular pockets. A zip pocket actually keeps your phone or keys with you instead of at the bottom of the lake.

Everything else is preference. Quick-dry fabric is nice because you’ll get wet. Stretch is nice because you’re moving. But don’t overthink it. Any board short with a secure pocket and a comfortable waistband will do the job.

You’re not surfing. You’re standing on an inflatable platform trying not to fall in. Just get something that won’t lose your car key.
