UV will wreck your pool float

UV radiation is the main culprit. It breaks down the plasticizers that keep the vinyl flexible, so the material gets brittle and starts cracking. The heat from direct sunlight accelerates the damage. Even “UV-resistant” coatings are mostly marketing; they delay the inevitable, not prevent it.

Your best move: deflate the float when you’re not using it and store it in the shade or a tote. If you must leave it inflated, at least flip it over regularly and keep a cover on it when possible. The chlorinated water and sun together are a brutal combo.
